With the opening of the Tennessee China Development Center in Beijing in 2007, the State of Tennessee is making a significant commitment to building relationships with the Chinese people in the area of government, industries, culture, education and other areas of cooperation. The role of our center is to promote foreign direct investments, education and culture exchanges between Tennessee and China. Tennessee’s main industries include advanced manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, senior care, entertainment, education, agriculture and tourism.


As a state with one of the best living and business environments in the US, Tennessee has attracted over 200 of the Fortune 500 companies to set up headquarters or operating entities. The list includes GM, Nissan, Volkswagen, FedEx, Cummins Filtration, Cargill Co., Jack Daniel Whiskey, HCA, Life care, Brookdale, Regal Entertainment Group, Viacom, Gibson Guitar, etc. The Vanderbilt University, ranking top 14 in the States, the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory are also great examples of Tennessee’s excellent environment of education, nature and technology innovation.


Since its founding, the Tennessee China Development Center has cooperated and signed MOU with the Chinese Ministry of health, Ministry of Commerce, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and other ministries, provinces, local government agencies and business associations. Great achievements have been made in the area of investment, education and culture exchanges between Tennessee and China. Over 70 Chinese enterprises have successfully established facilities in the state of Tennessee in recent years.


The Chief Representative of the Tennessee China Development Center is Ms. Li Weaver, an experienced business executive who has lived in both Tennessee and China and has extensive contacts among government and business leaders in both countries. The center’s staff is dedicated to helping to attract foreign direct investment and bring the people of Tennessee and China together.         The state of California is on the west coast of the United States. It is the 5th largest economy in the world; where many of the most profitable business is based. California is home to the headquarters of over fifty Fortune 500 companies. California is also the preferred destination for Chinese enterprises when investing in the United States. Since the year of 2000, over 500 Chinese enterprises have invested more than US$8 billion and created over 10,000 jobs in high-tech, real estate, film and entertainment industries as well as other sectors in California. Many of the Chinese investments are heading into California due to the large and highly educated talent pool, its diversity and openness, as well as a large number of R&D institutions.

The Michigan-China Innovation Center (MCIC) works on behalf of the State of Michigan government to manage Michigan’s China business development and relationships. MCIC’s mission is to promote business ties between Michigan and China.

MCIC provides free services directly to Chinese companies considering business in Michigan. MCIC provides free information, local introductions, and, in coordination with State of Michigan government, incentives support for Chinese businesses that are considering investing in Michigan.
