On January 16, 2020, the 2020 CASIC Appreciation Reception came to a successful conclusion at the Shanghai Peace Hotel (CASIC-Council of American States in China). This meeting is an informal exchange event between the representative offices of the US state governments in China and people in local Chinese government and business circles. Following the successful hosting in 2018, there were more than 110 guests from all over the country attended. The atmosphere was friendly and warm!
The meeting was chaired by Ms Liu Xiuping, President of the CASIC. The distinguished guests who attended the event were: Deputy President of the China PAFFC, Mr Hu Sishe; Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai People's Congress, Chairman of the Shanghai PAFFC (People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries), Mr Sha Hailin; Consul General of the United States in Shanghai, Mr Sean B. Stein; as well as local officials from Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Sichuan, Guizhou, Liaoning, Fujian provinces in charge of commerce bureau, foreign affairs. There are also representatives of Chinese companies investing in the United States or about to invest in the United States. In addition, as co-sponsors, 18 of CASIC members also sent representatives to attend the event.

The Council of American States in China (CASIC) is composed of the representative offices of the states, city governments, tourism authorities, and port authorities in China. As a bridge between China and the United States, CASIC aims to promote comprehensive exchanges between the two countries in the fields of trade, tourism, transportation, education and investment. At present, the official members are: Arkansas Economic Development Commission China Representative Office, California Capital-Sacramento Trade & Education China Office, Enterprise Florida China Office, Georgia Ports Authority, Georgia China Investment Representative Office, Idaho China Office, Illinois China Office, Indiana China Regional Office, Iowa Economic Development Authority China Office, Maryland China Center, Michigan China Center, Nebraska China Center, Empire State Development China Office, North Carolina China Office, Pennsylvania China Office, South Carolina Department of Commerce China Office, Tennessee China Development Center, and California Bay Area Council.
For many years, CASIC has received extensive support from the communities, including Chinese and American government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and business society. In order to thank people for their attention and support over the years, and to further promote the friendly relationship, exchange among people between China and the US, CASIC organised the "CASIC 2020 Appreciation ". On January 15, China and the US signed the first-phase trade agreement. As President Sha Hailin said, this is an important step for China and the US to resolve their economic and trade differences. It not only lays a good foundation for the follow-up work, but also promotes the return of the economic and trade relations between the two countries to the right track and encourages the stability and development of the global economy. This is good for China, the US, and the world.
The event began on the banks of the beautiful Huangpu River and closed in warmth and laughter, implying that China-US relations will continue to move forward with the joint efforts of the government and non-governmental parties, and welcome a better tomorrow!
